Community Sisterhood

Sisterhood/Women of Reform Judaism: Officers & Purposes

Sisterhood is in the midst of another year revitalizing and continuing its support of our Temple community. Volunteers are the backbone of the Sisterhood. Volunteers keep our much needed support going. Our volunteer opportunities are listed below. Leading the Sisterhood this year are President: Sandra Cohen, Vice President: Sharlane Packar, Secretary/Treasurer: Bobbi Ossip, Standing Board Members: Doris Olesky, Joanie Glickstein.

Our 2011-2012 Membership Drive is Underway! Your $36 annual dues help to support a variety of programs both within our Temple community as well as Klal Yisrael (the World Jewish community). Each week $25 is donated from our Oneg Shabbat funds to the feeding program, Mazon. Additionally, our Sisterhood has supported Shalom Bayit, a committee under the auspices of Jewish Community Services which works to educate and raise awareness about domestic abuse in the Jewish community. Sisterhood also provides many Jewish ritual items for the students of the Leon Kronish School of Living Judaism and our Foundation School, such as Kiddush cups, prayer books and candlesticks, and Chanukah gift bags.

Message from Sandy Cohen, Sisterhoood/WRJ President

Sisterhood enriches the lives of its members by creating a strong Jewish identity for Temple families, pursuing intellectual development, building bonds of friendship and serving the needs of the Temple and the community. Sisterhood is part of a local, national and international network of 100,000 women who create and carry out programs for the Women of Reform Judaism.

One Voice...Yad b’Yad- Hand in Hand

Each new year marks a new beginning for the women of Temple Beth Sholom. It gives us an opportunity to start anew and to join together to socialize, to perform mitzvot and to support one another during the year. We hope you will get involved!

Shalom
Sandy Cohen, President
